چکیده

Information is meager concering the influence of salts on the metabolic processe of halophiles. In fact, reports of the work of Robinson et al. (1952) are the only recent studies in this field. Robinson (1952) showed that there was an optimum concentration of sodium chloride for maximum activity of lactic acid dehydrogenase. While studying the effect of salt on Micrococcwu halodenifns, Robinson and Gibbons (1952) found that different optimal concentrations of salt were required for maximum nitrogen production and oxygen uptake. This paper presents data on the effects of various concentrations of salts and nonelectrolytes on the oxidation of glucose by Vibrio costicolu.

Salt desideratum of Vibrio costicolus, an obligate halophilic bacterium. I. Ionic replacement of sodium chloride requirement.

Halophilism has been of considerable interest since the report of Farlow (1880) on the reddening of salted fish. Any industry using either a salt packing process or a salt brine must be concerned with the control of halophiles. Considerable work has been done, therefore, with the isolation, identification, and control of these organisms. Stuart, Frey, and James (1933), Gibbons (1936), Lefevre a...

Draft Genome Sequence of Salinibacillus aidingensis Strain MSP4, an Obligate Halophilic Bacterium Isolated from a Salt Crystallizer of the Rann of Kutch, India

We report the 7.42-Mbp draft whole genome sequence of Salinibacillus aidingensis strain MSP4, an obligate halophilic bacterium, isolated from a salt crystallizer of the Rann of Kutch in India. Analysis of the genome of this organism will lead to a better understanding of the genes and metabolic pathways involved in imparting osmotolerance.

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase from the moderate halophile Vibrio costicola. Purification, physicochemical properties and the effect of univalent-cation salts.

Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) was purified to homogeneity from the moderately halophilic bacterium Vibrio costicola. The enzyme is monomeric, with an Mr of 62,000, as determined by the Svedberg equation, by using values of s0(20,w) 4.4 x 10(-13) s, D20,w 6.13 x 10(-7) cm2.s-1 and v 0.719 cm3.g-1. Compared with other, non-halophilic, PEPCKs, the enzyme from V. costicola had a signifi...

Draft Genome Sequence of an Obligate and Moderately Halophilic Bacterium, Thalassobacillus devorans Strain MSP14, the First Draft Genome of the Genus Thalassobacillus

We report the 3.93-Mbp first draft genome sequence of a species of the genus Thalassobacillus, Thalassobacillus devorans strain MSP14, a moderate but obligate halophile, isolated from a salt crystallizer of the Little Rann of Kutch, India. Exploring the genome of this organism will facilitate understanding the mechanism(s) of its obligate halophilism.

Isolation of Halophilic Bacteria from Maharlu salt Lake - Iran and their evaluation for the production of bioactive compounds

Halophilic bacteria grow over a wide range of salt concentrations. In this study we aimed to isolate and screen out the halophilic bacteria and to determine their activity for production of the bioactive compounds. A total of 50 water, sediments and soil samples were collected from Maharlu salt lake in southern region of Fars-Iran and subjected for isolation of the bioactive compound producing ...
